James Franco – Actor – Marketing Icon for Movies

James Edward Franco was born in Palo Alto, CA on April 19, 1978. He began working as an actor and filmmaker in 1997 with his first famous role on the short-lived series, “Freaks and Geeks.” On that show, he played the main character, Daniel Desario.

In the years that followed Franco has had many roles as icon television marketing and more commonly, films. He played the main character in James Dean; a made for t.v. Movie in 2011. For his performance in that movie, he earned himself a Golden Globe Award. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for his role in 127 hours.

Additional movies he had roles in including Pineapple Express, Spring Breakers, Spider-Man, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, King Cobra and Oz the Great and the Powerful. There has been debate among writers and actors as to whether or not Franco has the necessary skills and experience to take on additional roles, but his strong fan base has been extremely supportive thus far. Only time will tell whether or not he will be able to win over his peers in the long run.

James Franco was not expected to take this career path by his family as he was known as a math genius and was expected to put those skills to use in a technical career. In his youth, he had even interned at Lockheed Martin, but his attention was caught by the arts, and now it is clear he is where he should be.
